How much does it cost?
Prices run from 1,690 NOK to 2,990 NOK per day, depending on the season and the van.

What is the minimum rental period?
The minimum rental is four or five days, depending on the van you choose. This applies in every season.

Who can drive?
All drivers must be over 23 years old. There are no special licence requirements.

What is the cancellation policy?
More than 90 days before pickup: full refund, including the service fee. 21 to 90 days before pickup: 60% refund of the rental amount (the service fee is non-refundable). Less than 21 days before pickup: no refund. No-show, or cancellation after the rental starts: no refund.

Can I bring a pet?
Yes. Pets are allowed for an extra fee of 1,700 NOK.

Can I smoke in the van?
No. The vans are non-smoking.

Can I cross the border?
Yes. You can drive in Norway, Sweden and Finland.

Is there a mileage limit?
300 kilometers a day are included. Extra kilometers cost 3.5 NOK each.

Where is Arctic Vanlife located?
We are at Arctic Base, Normann Skoglunds vei 4, 8536 Evenes, just outside Lofoten Airport, Evenes. From here you reach the gates of Lofoten in about 1.5 hours. All vans are picked up at Evenes. If you travel by express boat from Tromsø, you can check in at Harstad harbor instead.

How do I get to the base?
You can arrive by plane, car or bus. You can walk from arrivals in about 10 to 12 minutes. Use the map link on our Help and information page.

What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in and check-out are both open 09:00 to 15:00 every day. Please book a flight that matches these hours.

What is included in my booking?
All kitchen supplies, a full tank of diesel and a bottle of gas for cooking. Toll stations and ferries are included in the final price. Winter tyres are fitted on all vans from October until April.

What costs extra?
Bedding: 450 NOK per person. Child seat: 500 NOK per seat. Pets: 1,700 NOK. Extra kilometers beyond 300 a day: 3.5 NOK each.

Are there toilets and showers?
All our vans have a toilet and a shower, except the veteran vans (VW Westfalia and VW Transporter), which have neither.

Which vans can I rent?
Veterans and classics (VW Westfalia for 4, VW Transporter for 2), compacts (Knaus, Karmann, Adria for 2), and family tourers (Solifer for 4, Dethleffs for 2). Bookings run through our partner Campr.no, which you reach from the Our campers page.

What is the fuel policy?
You get a full tank of diesel. Please return the van with the same amount.

Is there a deposit?
Yes. A deposit of 10,000 NOK is paid to Campr before check-in. It is returned ten days after check-out if the camper is returned undamaged.

Is the van insured?
The van has full insurance. Damage to the van is deducted from your 10,000 NOK deposit.

What cleaning do I need to do before return?
Empty the toilet cassette and dirty water. Fill the water tank. Refill diesel, and AdBlue if needed. Sweep out sand and clean the toilet (we charge extra for a dirty toilet). Strip the bedding and put it in one of the bags. Remove Bluetooth connections. Log into Campr and start the delivery process before handing over the keys.

Is winter driving safe in a camper?
Follow our six rules: eyes on the road, no alcohol within 12 hours of driving, never above 70 km/h, a gentle brake test at the start, headlights always on, and extra distance (winter braking can be 3 to 5 times longer). Older vans can be slow to start on cold mornings, so give the engine a few minutes.

How long is the drive from Evenes to Lofoten?
About 1.5 hours to the gates of Lofoten. On day 1 you can stay at Gullesfjord camping, drive on to Svolvær, or stop at a roadside campsite along the way.

Does the Andenes ferry run in winter?
No. The Andenes ferry runs from May to September.

How long is the drive from Evenes to Tromsø?
Around four hours without stops, though you will want to stop often.

What do I do in an accident or emergency?
Contact emergency services first: 113 for ambulance, 112 for police, 110 for fire. Then get in touch with us through our support on the page.
