Emma and Sam: Starting married life on the road with a veteran camper in the arctic

Next summer, Emma and Sam will start married life a little differently.

After getting married in the UK in June, they won’t be heading to a resort or following a fixed honeymoon itinerary. Instead, they’ll be flying north — to Northern Norway — where their honeymoon will begin on four wheels, with a campervan and the open road ahead.

For them, that choice feels natural.

Why Northern Norway?

Emma and Sam met in 2019 while working as marine conservationists in the Philippines. Six years later, they still live on a small island in the south of the country, surrounded by nature — and their four adopted street dogs.

Nature has always shaped how they live and travel. For their honeymoon, they wanted a place that offered space, silence, and powerful landscapes. Northern Norway stood out immediately.

The mountains, the coastline, and the idea of experiencing the midnight sun — endless daylight stretching late into the night — feel like the perfect setting for the first journey of their married life.

Choosing a Campervan for Their Honeymoon

The idea of van life first caught their attention through the Lofoten road-tripping Facebook page. Photos of campervans parked by the sea, quiet mountain roads, and travelers moving at their own pace sparked something.

A campervan felt like the simplest way to travel. No hotel schedules. No strict plans. Just the freedom to wake up and decide the day as it comes.

For a honeymoon, that freedom mattered.

Life on the Road with Luna

For their journey, Emma and Sam will be traveling with Luna, one of Arctic Vanlife’s campervans — their home on wheels for the summer.

Luna will give them everything they need, without unnecessary distractions. A place to sleep, cook, and rest — and the ability to stop wherever the landscape invites them to.

Their days will be shaped by the road: slow mornings with coffee outside the van, hikes when the weather allows, and spontaneous stops when a view feels too good to pass by. Evenings will stretch long under the midnight sun, with no real need to check the time.

The Easy Life, Northern Style

What they’re most looking forward to isn’t just the scenery, but the pace.

Traveling by campervan allows them to slow down, be present, and focus on shared moments rather than logistics. Northern Norway encourages that kind of travel — unhurried, open, and grounded in nature.

For two people starting married life together, it feels like the right way to begin.

A Honeymoon Without a Schedule

This honeymoon won’t be about ticking off destinations or chasing highlights.

It will be about sharing simple experiences. Cooking together. Watching the light change across the landscape. Falling asleep knowing tomorrow doesn’t need a plan yet.

Next summer, Emma and Sam will begin their marriage as newlyweds on four wheels — choosing freedom, simplicity, and Northern Norway with Arctic Vanlife.
