Nina and Anni was led to the roadtrip of their dreams: «This experience stays with you»

When Anni (27) first imagined Lofoten, it was during long evenings of studying — a peaceful escape found in pictures of Hamnøy that eventually made their way into the form of jigsaw puzzles she solved with her partner Nina (29).

Piece by piece, their dream took shape. And in the summer of 2025, that dream became reality.

The couple from Düsseldorf, Germany, decided it was finally time. After completing their studies and stepping into the next chapter of life, they booked a direct flight from Frankfurt to Evenes Airport in Northern Norway. It was a Thursday afternoon when they landed — the sun already stretching into the evening as midsummer approached, casting golden light over their journey that was just about to begin.

Their vehicle for the adventure?

A charming, character-filled campervan from Arctic Vanlife, each one lovingly maintained and uniquely named. Anni and Nina discovered Arctic Vanlife on Instagram and the platform My Camper, instantly drawn in by Espen’s personal dedication.

The posts showed him scrubbing tires, prepping vans, and sharing honest glimpses of life on the road — a transparency that stood out. This wasn’t just another rental service. It was someone’s passion project, and they wanted to be a part of it.

“You can tell Espen puts his heart and soul into the vans, Each van has a name, a story. That made it feel special right from the start.”

Booking was seamless, and communication with Espen was consistently warm and responsive. Whether it was travel tips, road questions, or just a check-in, he was there — ensuring their focus stayed on soaking in Lofoten’s magic.

And magic, they found.

From cinnamon rolls fresh from local bakeries, to the iconic football field in Henningsvær surrounded by sea and cliffs, every stop became a story.

One evening, after a hike that left their legs sore and hearts full, they parked their van by the water and watched the midnight sun hover above the horizon — a surreal moment that words and cameras can’t fully capture.

Another day, a group of reindeer crossed the road just meters in front of them — a gentle, wild reminder of where they were.

Sleeping in a vintage van, cooking dinner with fjord views, waking up to waves and seabirds — for Anni and Nina, this wasn’t just a vacation. It was a connection to nature, a return to simplicity, and an adventure written entirely on their own terms.

Though they explored nearly the entire stretch of Lofoten, all the way to Å, there are still places left to discover.

“We’ll definitely come back,” Nina said. “This is the kind of experience that stays with you.”

Their journey, once imagined in puzzle pieces on a living room floor, came together perfectly — wild, cozy, spontaneous, and unforgettable.
